GRATITUDE.

(To the Editor of the Herald.) Sir, —We appreciate Mr. Mirfield’s remarks at the Harbor Board’s meeting on Monday night last, when he expressed his gratitude to the Aard Motor Service for the raft donated to the Waikanao Beach, Mr. Mirfield gratefully remarks that the “thing they have now is an absolute farce.” We should like to know Mr. Mirfield’s reason for this statement. Tho donation Ims been so well appreciated by tho general public that tho necessity for further rafts lias been seen by the Gisborne Harbor Board, who have generously offered three more to the Beach Society. Wo hope that these rafts will not prove a farce, and that the donation will be more gratefully received than the one already donated. I am, etc.,
