REBEL COMMANDANT MORTALLY WOUNDED. [Elec Tel, Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reuter s Telegram.) LONDON, Oct. 16. The irregular commandant, Vulretan, whoso daring exploits are widely known, was mortally wounded, refusing to surrender during a brisk engagement at Ballaghaderreen, East Mayo, which the Nationals encircled and searched. A quantity of looted goods was recovered. One hundred and forty prisoners escaped from an internment camp at Newbridge Barracks, near Curragh, through a disused sewage drain. Twentyseven- were re-captured. TAKING ADVANTAGE OE THE AMNESTY. (Australian ana N.Z Cable Association.} LONDON, Oct. 17. A considerable number of irregulars in County Donegal laid down their arms under the amnesty and returned to their homes.
