Australia’s agreement regarding the Southport-Sydney and Sydney-Suva duplications of the Pacific cable have been received. Arrangements for proceeding with the work will be pushed forward immediately, all other contracting countries having already consented. Anglo-Australian circles in London are somewhat puzzled at the omission of the Imperial Institute vote on the current Commonwealth estimates.
