Sister Blanche, well known in Auckland as one of the Sister’s ol tlie Order of tho Good Shepherd, died last week. Tho number of applications for. positions as pupil teachers and probationers in the Hawke’s Bay education district this year is almost the same as last year. Tn Xapier and Hastings, however, the number of applications is in excess of tho vacancies offering, hut insufficient applications have been received from the Gisborne and ■ Onnnevirke districts.
