PEACE SHIELD TOURNAMENT.

The third tournament for the Peace Shield will take place on the Gisborne Bowling Club's greens at Kaiti on January 2 and 3. The tournament, which has been an annual- institution under the joint control of the Kahutia and Gisborne Club executives, will this year be conducted under the auspices of the new Gisborne centre. The handsome memorial shield was the • outcome of a voluntary effort oil: the part of all local bowlers, afc the close of the war, and was first won in 1920 by a. Gisborne Club team, skipped by W. J. MacDonald. On the last occasion of competition, the shield- was won by a Kahutia rink, skipped by J- Newton, and the outcome of tin's year's tourney is the subject of eargef speculation. There are sixteen teams entered, of which eight are from the Gisborne Club, five from Kahutia, two from Poverty Bay, and one from the Strangers. , The entries are as follows :
