DOMINION BISLEY.

KING’S PRIZE COMPETITORS AND LONG RANGE AGGREGATES. TRENTSAM M.C., last night. 1 Trentham put on a smiling face this morning. For the sixth day of the Rifle Championship Meeting bright sunshine prevailed, and practically the whole lime there was scarcely any wind,, but what little puffs did occasionally stir the flags ; were disconcerting to many men. The 1 chief trouble, however, was the heavy! ! drift that played havoc in the early hours ! with the men who were deceived by the movements of nearer streamers along the range, and failed to notice a heavy drift ; running across the front of the target : trenches. This often nullified or exerted ja- stronger influence than a breeze. The j result was nonplussed marksmen and the J scoring boards showed strings of ciphers. ! Even some who had been in leading positions overnight, fell victims, and retired from the ranks of the aspirants for the i championship, while a few lucky ones who had been hovering just in the rear, found a way on to the lower rungs of the Belt ladder. Two men have to fire off for the fiftieth place. The two matches that decided who should comprise the final ■ fifty wore' the Hawke’s Bay match, ten shots at 900 yards, and fho Taranaki match, ten at 1000 yards. | lu the afternoon the Anzac match, in three stages, ten shots at 7,00, 500. and 600 yards was fired by tyros and roI turned soldiers. Brigadier-General G. S. Richardson, officer in charge of the adj ministration, visited the range during j the afternoon. One competitor was de- ' teeted during the morning using pre-war ammunition at IQCQ yards and was asked to explain matters to the executive. Later it was decided to exclude the man from further participation in the meeting, under the tule which requires that competitors must use no ammunition other than that issued. Anyone transgressing this rule is officially declared guilty of discreditable conduct. ] The following, are the men who will j fire in the King’s Prize match, ten shots I at 1000 yards, on Friday afternoon, being the highest aggregate men in the Westland, Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, Nelsonj Otago, Hawke’s Bay j and Taranaki matches, the possible total ’ score being 605 points :—E.
