The wool sales were resumed, but the market was dull' and lifeless, due to tho collapse of the London sales. Greasy realised 28-|d.—U.P.A. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency, (Jo., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London .rouse, under date March 2: Tallow. — .V'e quote present spot values for, the lollmvirig descriptions: Fine mutton £2 per cwt.j- good beef, £1 17s 6d per nvt.; mixed, £1 10s fid per cwt. Limited demand. Cheese: Quotations, colored £7 18s 6d per cwt., white £7 7s per cwt. Market firm. Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., are ill receipt,of the following cable udvricc giving the closing rates for the February woolsales, which are as fol,o\vs: 56’s, Is sd; 50 s, Is lfd; 46’s, 11 Id.;’ 445, lOd; 40’s, 9jcl; 36’s, B|d. Crossireds, fine quality, 10 per cent, to 15 per cent , lowercrossbreds, medium and joarse qualities, 20 per cent, to 25 per :ent. lower. Continental buyers were .aperating freely, ; Home buyers have aought small quantities. Forty-five housand bales of free wool were offered and about 70 per cent-, sold; 75,000 bales of Government, wool were offered and about 60 per cent, sold.” MATAWHERO STOCK SALE. j The Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Assoiation held their weekly sale in the Matawhero saleyards to-day. There was only a fair attendance. Bidding was lot brisk, and prices were about- on a iar with last week’s'sale. There was only a very small yarding in each line, vhile,there was a. particularly poor yarding of store cattle.
