PROPOSED AIRPLANE MAIL SERVICE.

MESSRS. WALSH BROS.’ EFFORTS. COUNCIL A OKNOWLEDGRS SUPPORT. The matter of commercial aviation for the East Coast was discussed at the meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council last evening. Introducing they subject, Cr. H. 11. DeCosta asked members if they had noticed the article dealing with aviation in the Herald of’-Saturday last. Messrs. Mount said the Harbor Board had il ready granted them a site on which to erect a hangar to house the machiiu hat would carry the mails. Gisborne was isolated at any time, and especially at the present, when the Make was the only boat trading between Napier and Gisborne with passengers. “And we are lucky to have her,” said a councillor. Lawless opined that, the establishment. of an airplane mail service was of public interest, and a most, worthy object, and should he taken up in the right public spirit.
