SOLDIERS' WELFARE.
THE CAPETOWN CONFERENCE. CAPETOWN, Feb. 28. At the ex-servicemen’s conference, General Smuts said that he hoped the conference would help the Government to deal with the welfare of soldiers. There was a true, honest desire by the Governments and peoples of all parts of the Empire to do the best to meet cases of hardship. Earl Haig said tho bond which held the ex-servicemen together should not be loosened, but handed unbroken and unbreakable down to their children’s children. There should bo a guarantee for all time throughout the wide Empire of the maintenance of tho wide ideals for which they had fought.—Renter.
