MR. F. J. LYSNAR'S CANDIDATURE.
The announcement contained in our Saturday's issue of the candidature of Mr. F. J. Lysnar in the liberal interests was received with gratification by the local supporters ; of the party, and already the candidate has been assured of considerable support by many friends throughout the district, including . ardent supporters of the late Hon! W. D. S. MacDonald, both on the Gisborne and Opotiki sides of the electorate. Mr. Lysnar publishes an address to the electors in this issue. • The candidate is announced to meet the workers at Kaitaratalu freezing works at noon to-morrow. He will open h3s campaign "with a public address at Te Karaka to-morrow (Tuesday) evening, and the following day will proceed overland to Opotiki, slopping en route at Motuhora at mid-day on Wednesday, when he will meet the residents of the railhead at Quirk's mill.' The extremely limited time allowed by the Government in which to conduct tho election, the candidate points out. will preclude the possibility of his visiting many centres throughout tho electorate, and apart from the unfairness of this, Mr. Lysnar complains ,that the closing of the rolls last week without notice has resulted in many returned, soldiers and other woujld-be electors befog difefranch'sed. ' Mr. F. J. Lysnar hn's been associated with various locaj bodies of th's district fon over 30 years, and has rendered useful service in various capabilities, especially as chairman of ihe Cook County Council. He is at present chairman of the Gisborne Harbor Board, and enly returned on Saturday after having, represented the Board before the Parliamentary Committee in connection with the Harbor Loan Bill. As a frequent deputationist to Wellington on behalf of local bodies, Mr. Lysnar has proved himself an. ardent, and consistent advocate on behalf -of ~. the district. . • - -
