Harding, of Prebbleton, who -was injured m a motor accident recently. • The motor car which lie was driving collided with another motor, and Mr Harding suffered a fractured thigh and injuries to his head. ' ' | The proposed transfer of the control of the Cashmere military sanatorium from the Defence Department to the North Canterbury H. and C.A. Board has been abandoned. The Hospital Board! was to have taken over the institution on September 1, but, as the result of the! urgent representations of nearly all the patients, the Government has decided that the- Defence Department shall retain control. A special meeting of the Hospital Board was. held oq Saturday to consider tho whole matter, when very strong exception was taken to Hie. attitude of] the Defence Department and of SurgeonGeneral McGavin. It was decided that the whole of the correspondence be given to tho newspapers, so that the public I might judge for themselves. It was also unanimously decided that unless the letters of General McGavin and his Department are withdrawn i the Board enter into no further negotiations. — Press Assn.
