OPERATIONS IN PERSIA.
CLEARING THE -RAILWAY LINE. LONDON, Sept. U. The. War Office announces that • a strong column of Indian troops have left Bakuba to operate around the Persian railway. Another- column left I^zilrobat and will operate, toward the first column. Two other columns converged upon Shahroban. which was relieved ' without resistance, resulting m the release of Mrs. Buchanan., wife of ; - a British 'officer, and her companion. ■ Tho object of the expedition is to clear the railway into Persia, and bring. the Persian camp at Koi'ina, where British women and children, are seeking' refuge, into touch with Bagdad again.
. The Indian government has accepted the offer of the Maharaja of Kupurthalia to'send his' ; infantry ft) assist m the the operations m Mesopotamia.— Reuter.
