ARRIVAL FROM ENGLAND.

Twenty-eight passengers, who reached Wellington a few days ago by the Mahana from England, arrived at Gisborne tliis morning per the Arahura, and generally appeared quite a healthy and desirable class. In conversation with one of the new arrivals shortly after he landed, a Herald reporter was informed that while some of the passengers were "free immigrants" who came out on tho chance of securing employment immediately, most of them • were: recommended: by* the> Otferjseas • Committee at. The Mayor (Mr G. | Wildish) was present on the wharf, as i well as several hundred Gisborne people who lined the bank and wharf to see the "new arrivals." No cases were . noticed where any of the immigrants were m indigent circumstances. A number (about 1 12) broke the journey at Napier, and are expected to arrive here to-morrow.
