MJBLBOURNE, July 21. At the final, session of the Premiers? Conference Mr. .Hughes created a -sensation by declining to prolong the Federal wheat pool, 'declaring that each- State - must' look after 'its own producers in the coming harvest. The Premier's action* ls . a PP ar ently the outcome of the conflict between the Commonwealth line «f steamers and the >' shfbpirig combine-,' wbieli, Mr. Hughes informed the ' conference, was trying "to drive the Federal line off the seas. He stated the, fight is being, waged' on lines which en* tirely deprived }he Federal steamers <tf ' back-loading to^ Australia. In view of this the Stages will be in a precarionfc position when ( shipping the next harvest, as hv.is inferred that the cbmbine ( will refuse to handle any of the new crop unless given transport of the whole.
