QUEENSLAND'S PREMIER.
CRITICISM OF CAPITALISTS
LONDON, July 17. Mr. Theodore. Premier of Queensland, •speaking at a farewell dinner, said he hoped England never thought Queensland would repudiate her obligations, but ou tho other hand' Queensland, like any other self-governing Dominion, would never abdicate her functions of i-elf-government. He passionately repudiated the action of capitalists iv endeavoring to exercise control over the (Government, and bitterly resented tlie attempt by a few persons to prevent other people investing m Queensland and to intimidate them aiid his Government from adopting a policy that was not approved of by the city interests. It was unfortunate for Queensland particularly, and for Australia m general, that local political fights should be oar lied into ihe City of London. The selfgoverning Dominions should be left to settle such questions for ' themselves. — A. and N.Z.C.A. / ,
