She brings nearly 1000 immigrants. A"bout 700 are nominated, including a large number of girls coming out to be married. There are J2O under the overseas settlement scheme. The rest are full-rate passengers. The fever oases have been quarantined on Somes Island. As a protest against allowing the Mahana to berth, the watersiders declined to handle bag--gage and mails. The secretary of ti» union states that though the Mahana was declared a clean ship, another case of fever had developed since. In view of the Niagara case m the epidemic the union held that the passengers should be quarantined until the risk of infection had passed. In face of this decision the immigrants have agreed with the Pepartment to unload the baggage themselves. The Auckland passengers will travel by to-night's train; for New Plymouth, Napier, and Gisborne to-morrow morning, and passengers for South tonight.
