LONDON, Feb. 23.-"The coming season will reveal the most dazzling frocks which London has ever seen," a society dressmaker said to a press representative on Saturday. "Everybody is tired of nigger brown and navy blue and clerical grey. Last year there was a wide demand for the gayest things m cloths and silks, but the manufacturers were afraid to depart from tradition. However, they have learned by experience, and they are now producing materials wh^'ch will a be a revelation to women. Dresses will have the queer, fantastic effect of the patchwork quilts of our grandmothers' days, for they will be a jumble of startling colors. Materials will be made up m such a fashion that the completed dress will rather resemble _ the highly decorative dazzle ships which sailed our shores m war-time. Artists are already busy designing the most peculiar patterns for chintz, but thia chintz will not be used for chair-covers so much as for women's frocks. Plain little linen dresses with chintz coatees m daring colors and designs will be a feature of the summer. Dressmakers are hunting up old books for pictures of peasant dresses from which they can make their designs, with suitable alterations. There are some excellent color ideas to be obtained from studies of Russian and. Italian peasant frocks.
