HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT.

The Assembly , Hall Was well filled with pupils and friends, wbd showed keen appreciation of the long And varied programme. Dur--11115 the evening Mr Yernon, a member of the staff, created much' merriment bj' his clover rendering of the hiu_*orous song "The Drum Major.", In response to a vociferous encore the singer- gave a witty accounts of his first impression of Gisborne, and afterwards, m association with Mr Ashton, .gave an exhibition, of .• tflepathy. and thought-reading which fairly ■ "brought down the house." Throughout j tho evening W. Kohn made an excellent accompanist. I In thnnkinjj the performers, the rector ■ especially mentioned the time and atten- ; tion given to the orchestra by G., Chrisp, j who was responsible . for its efficiency. ' Three cheers were given for the performersi; and . the gathering concluded with tho National -"Anthem. Mr Sholto Block made a capable chair man. He was pleased to be able to announce that the concert had brought m the substantial : sum of £24) which a further • donation from a gentleman m the audience had made up to £25.
