The Royal train, which left Invercargill at 10 o'clock last night, reached Christchurch at 9 o'clock this mom-'ng. The weather was. very cold all the way. The Southern Alps, completely snowclad to the lowest footht'lls. presented a magnificent spectacle.' and day.light disclosed a. ■white coat of frost over all the South Canterbury plains. Middleton the train was stopped for a few minutes by the Prince, who held an informal reception of all officers and staff m connection with the conduct of the tour. He also addressed' a few words of thanks to them all for the ' manner >m which everything had been dono, to secure the comfort of his party during their travels. . He would never forget the kindness extended to him on all hands m New Zealand.
