DUNEDIN S FAREWELL.

r THE PRINCE'S DEPARTURE SOUTH. 'Per Press Association. l DUNEDIN, this day. The Prince of Wales had a great sendoff this morning. The weather changed in the night, and turned very cold, and this morning there was a light covering of pnow on the high hills, but the sun shone brilliantly from a clear blue sky* There was a big gathering outside the Fernhill Club when the Prince drove off shortly before ten o'clock. Tlie route along Princes Street was lined with people, and from Customhouse Square to Anzac Square there was a huge crowd, it being estimated that in Anzac Square alone, which is just outside the station, about nine thousand people were congregated. The City Fire Brigade made an effective display at the entrance to the station, where extension ladders were raised in the form of a pyramid, under which the Prince passed. As the train steamed south at 10.15, with tho Prince waving farewells from the last carriage, sirens from tlie brigade's seven machines sounded farewells but could not drown the tumultuous cheers of the people Assembled. The Prince's parting words to tho Mayor were, "Good-bye, sir; thanks very much for your entertainment in Dunedin. I am so delighted. It was a great pleasure lo me. I thank you sincerely for the arrangements of tho whole organisation." A guard of honor was formed by the Otago High School Cadets. _ — ____—___——_
