AN INGENIOUS SWINDLE. ADELAIDE,' Feb: ' 21 t — One of the banks of Adelaide has beeii- victimised to the extent of £3000 by an ingenious swindle. ' The perpetrator opened a current account .with £1000, and a : few day.a later he closed the account with a withdrawal of the amount. ■ 1 ' After- tlio -cheque p.ad .beeri marked "correct" by the' ledgerkeeper the "customer, by the- v addition, of . the letter *'F," transformed into "Four" the wor' "one," whicli ho had originally, inadc to resemble "our." I A couple of strokes changed the figures £1000 .-. to - £4000 and the altered cheque being presented the thief got -away with £3000 of the^ '"bank's money.;. _
