Welcome rain was experienced m Gisborne and the surrounding- district over tlie week-end, which, although insuffi.cient, will .greatly relievo the " former tense position m which the farmers were placed by the continued) and protracted «pe r l of dry weather. The rainfall for the past month tota-T---'ed 1.33 inches on seven days, as against 6.96 on 11 days for the corresponding month, last year, and 3.90in. on 10 days m November, 1917. The daily fall last month wa« as follows s 3rd l , '2 points ; sth, 6 points,: 6th, 10 points; 16th, 37 points; 26th, 28 points; 29th, 68 points; 30th, 2 points. Interviewed on the subject this morning, a local farmer staged that good, heavy rain has been experienced all through Wairoa and on the hilly parts of this district. The flats, however, did not experience anything Hike a sufficient rainfall. Generally speaking, . another good night's rain would be xety acceptable to the farming community m the district, but what has already been experienced will have the effect of'freshening up the feed, and for other purposes.
