RETURNING MEN.

A largo dnii'l of una* ex the Uliinaroa iind Matatua arrived from Auckland by tlie Arahura last night, and ivw,; welcomed this morning, the Tuatea returning to the wharf about 8 a.m. As the tender drew up at the town wharf. th« City Band was present and played suitable music. The Mayor (Mr. G. Wildish) and rep. reseututives of the Citizens' DeCommittee and Returned Soldiers' Association were present. At- the instigation of' the Mayor cheers were given for the returned men. Some disappointment was felt that no private cars were present to convey the men to their destinations, as had been the unfailing rule since the first- drafts of returned men commenced to dribble home. This morning, although a large draft of men arrived, there were no citizens' cars at the wharf to transport them to their homes. - The draft which arrived this morning included a number of men who left with the Main Body and early reinforce, ments. Practiaclly all of them were from Egypt. The following were included m the draft : Sgt. W. S. Coleman, Main Body : R.S.M. D. McMillan, 2nds ; Trooper F. Williams, 7ths ; Sgt. A. Craaiswick, sths; L.-Cpl. H. Callahan, 7ths ; Sapper H. R. Clayton. 25th s ; Sgt. J. Penn e v. 7-ths ; Rim. B. Parker, 34ths : Gnr. *K. McLean, Main Body: Pvte. A. (J. Evans 34ths; L.-Cpl.
