BORDEN CABINET'S LOSS.
VANCOUVER, July 9.— The resignation of Sir William White, late Canadian Minister for Finance, was a serious blowto the Borden. Government. 'Sir William White was recognised as one of the ablest men m Canadian public life. He had been eight years a Minister, and was acting-Premier dur- I ing Sir Robert Bordon's absentee .at the Peace Conference. He underwent a great strain during the war, as the result of which his health became impaired, and he feela ' that he is also unable longer to make i the financial sacrifices entailed by his! occupancy of the position. " I Pressure has been exerted on Sir! William to prevail on him to recon-j sider his resignation. It is reported that : he may join the Canadian-Pacific Rail-' way, m charge of the finances of that company. An earlier cable stated that Sir William White tendered his resignation on July 9 for private and business reasons.!
