Mr Andrew Carnegie has . died at Lenox, Masachussetts, from bronchial pneumonia, ' after three days' illness. Hw daughter was unable to arrive before his death, .which was unexpected. He. was aged 84 years.
'Mr Andrew Caraegie, aged 84, was the . wealthiest man m the "British Empire. He was born m Scotland, and at thj^ : age of 30 went to America,, where he made a foriune m the Pittsburg iron t;-ade. He" has. endowed educational establjjshmeutsrf founded libraries, and hospitals. He, gave two million, pounds to* the Scottish tiniversit^ to pay the fees of deserving poor students. He has given away at least thirty million pounds. He provided a permanent building, at the Hague for a Court of Arbitration, which was opened in r '1914. He has latterly resided m America.
