Speaking at "the' Soldiers' Club, Sir Joseph : \Wa,rd said : "I have • been .m a . great .many countries m ,'my • time, ■ and ; I say' this, I would sooner : Jive -m. New I Zeafaaid than m any other' country. 'At ' different times m, my . history it has been said' that I. was going Home to England to stay, but I am .not built that way. I am here, and 'I' am going to stay here. That is my .position so far as New Zealand is concerned, and I think I am entitled to say I have -a right to- live m New ZeaJand. (Applause.) It is a privilege to live m this 'country, and I believe I am m the happiest position m the freest country iri the world."
