BRITISH COAL CRISIS.
ABORTIVE CONFERENCE WITH YORKSHIRE DELEGATES.

The General Secretary of the 3 liners' Federation states that the conference was abortive, resulting m a deadlock. The net output of coal m Britain for the wo-ok ending July 27 showed 2,500.---000 tona reduction, or nearly fifty per cent, of the average for the weeks pieceding July 16. Mr.. Lloyd George stated, m theHousa of Commons that he hoped to make, a statement of the Government's policy on the Sankey report before the recess. LONUON, August a The Houee of Commons read the Cob. There are indications that the strikers' funds will be exhausted' m the next fort-' night. (Received August 11, 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 9. In connection with the Triple Alliance ballot, the Lancashire miners' conference recommended the men to vote against direct action, but urged the Miners' Federation to convene a conference m support of a 14.2 per cent, increase m piece rates.
