MOBILISATION OF KAITI GUARDS
The mobilisation of the "Guards" i Regiment, which is to represent the ; Kaiti district m the forthcoming "Great Band Battle,'" was decided upon at a ! large and enthusiastic meeting held last night at the residence of Mr. W. F. ■ Cederwall, Rutene i road, Kaiti. An apl propriate reveille was sounded by the Gisborne City Band, m th© form of several suitable musical selections, which were rendered at the appointed rendezvous at 8 o'clock. Notwithstanding the inclement weather Kaiti residents responded enthusiastically to the mobilisation invitation, -with the result that Mr. CederwalTs large, cosy sitting room was packed to the doors, and the enthusiasm displayed m the proceedings augurs well for the success of the Guards m the forthcoming campaign. . In fact, a riiember of the executive called attention to. the "flying start" the "Black and White Army" had attained. The proceedings were opened wdth a few introductory remark* .by Mr. J. A. Albrecht, the Kaiti convenor, who-in-troduced the organiser, Mr. W. Lints. Mr. Lints proceeded to detail the scheme of th 6 "Great Band Battle" and the plan of camjpaign ; to be adopted, : which, he said, would be conducted on' business lines. The speaker referred to the encouragement afforded by the large meeting present, and' urged that the chief end of the campaign was to I mobilise both energy and money. After indicating methods of stimulating the I campaign, he intimated that August 21 would be the great "mobilisation day," and that "war" would be declared on August 2§. The contest would be closed by a great spectacular display — & grand ceremonial function. After the "cannonading" ceased and peace was signed they would witness the presentation of the colors and IJnion Ja^k to thd princess of the victorious army. | Questions were and after a general discussion, the. following officers of the "Guards" . were appointed : — Generals : Messrs F.
