PREPARING FOR BIG STRIKE. (Australian and N.Z. Gable Association) (Received Feb. 25, 1.40 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 23. At the miners' demonstration at Mansfield Mr. Hodges, secretary of the Federation, said that if the Government wanted to avert national disaster the Royal Commission reports on wages and hours must be announced before the strike notices expired; also nationalisation must be conceded in principle. Transport Federation officials have circularised all branches, warning them to be ready for a strike at every seaport in the kingdom to enforce the demands. • A ballot of London bakers overwhelmingly favors a strike to abolish night work.
