The Government has decided to erect a marble slab, with a simple inscription, on the grave of every New Zealand war veteran whose place of burial has been located by the inspector of graves. There are hundreds of these graves scattered m lonely, out-of-the-Vay places throughout the land, and hitherto there has been nothing to mark them. For the last six years Miss Statham has urged that some simple monument should mark these last .Testing places of the heroic dead, and her request was give» effect to a short time ago. The work will be undertaken as soon as. the necessary arrangements can be made.
