QUESTION OF REPRISALS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, October 16. Li the House of Lords attention was drawn to the official reports of Gfermany's treatment of prisoners. Lard Newton, said the Government recognised that the piisoners had been •treated with incredible brutality. He had. been anxious io avoid reprisals, bait realised they should take advantage of the chaii'gied military situation m order to improve the prisoners' treatament. A list of offenders had 1 been kept, and he believied that punishment could be exacted after thte war. The Primate said he had been) against reprisals, but m view of the official reports he was disposed to leave the Government t/hte f uLest freedom of action.
