Speaking at a luncheon given m his honor by the Merchant Seamen's League at > Derby this afternoon, at which Mr. Hayelock Wilson (president of the League) and Mr. Sam Gompers (president of the American Federation of Labor) were present, ■ Mr, Hughes, •who was received with cheers, anid' that it was the firsfc occasion on which he had had the honor of addressing- organised llabor m Great Britain, though it. had been his privilege to fight i'or .organised labor m Australia for the last 25 years. He also, had the rare privilege of representing a maritim-e electorate. / • Organised labor, said Mr. Hughes; had, as a class, wore, to lose if eGermany won, than any other class. I (Hear, hear.) . r ' He advised them to fight ori until they won, and let thorn teach the German marauder si lesson.
