WORKERS' PLEDGE
(Consul's Message — By Wireless.) SYDNEY. Sept. 4. New York. — In every city of the United States hosts of labor marched m honor of National Labor Day. The processions, made up of every branch of workmen, showed, by decorated implements and tools, the signs of unity, of the tremendous force .of America's labor army., of ..the millions backing up 'their brothers -bearing rifles overseas m freedom's 'cause. • Typical of the. spirit of Labor . Day messages., from-- leaders' of labor to the workers is the following' from Mr. Timothy Shea,- acting-president of the I Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, and) Enginemen : "We ai'e proud of the unselfish purpose- actuating ifche entry of the United States, inlo the present \rorli-war,' and to the realisation of the noble ideas proclaimed as the only moitive m participating m ' this appalling conflict. We' pledge* our (livesi. fraternity, and oup sacred honor tf> the cud. that liberty, fraternity; and equality be established throughout 'the world ■politically, socially, economically, and industrially. .. . .. ' "
