TOURNAI-MONS LINE.
GRAVE POSITION OF THE HUNS. RAPID FORTIFICATIONS. (United Service.) LONDON, Sept. 5. Dutch and Belgian reports describe the rapid fortifications of the TournaiMons line. It is suggested that this means that Ludendorff is trying to form a stable front line from the Meuse, Sambre, Toumai, Lille districts, Messines Ridge, thence along the old front. Pan-German critics admit that the position is the gravest since the Marne m 1914, but cling to the hope of checking the advance when the front has been, further narrowed.
