THE WAIROA COURT.

TO BE CONTROLLED FROM NAPIER. As indicated m a previous issue, confirmatory advice has been received from the Justice -Department that m future the sittings of the Magistrate's Court at Wairoa w*ul be conducted by the Magistrate at Napier. Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., has just returned from- a sitting of the Court at Wairoa, and it was the last one to be controlled from Gisborne. Tlie October sitting will be presided over by the Napier Magistrate. One of the strong reasons for this change m the jurisdiction districts is the fact that the road to Wairoa from Napier is m much better condition is tlie road from Gisboroe. As an instance of this fact, it lias been intimated that throughout the whole of the winter a car service has been run from. Napier to Wairoa without mishap or unnecessary dielay. In this ■connection it is interesting to note the Wairoa Court was originally controlled from Napier until the late Mr J. Booth took it over from Gisborne. Since that time — about 33 years ago — it has been oontroMed from Gisborrae, m spite of the difficulties of transport which had to be surmounted by the magistrates concerned.
