OTTAWA, Aug. 20. j As a result of the Imperial War Cabi- ' net meetings, Canada now possesses full control of her overseas troops, except in matters of discipline and military operations. The change is regarded here as a further indication of the recognition of Canada's status as a nation within the British Commonwealth. 1 J ' OTTAWA, June 16. Information has been received here 1 that an important development in the > administrative organisation of the Canadian overseas forces has recently taken place. It consists .in the formation cf a Canadian section at tho British General Headquarters in France. The section is a branch of, and responsible to, the Ministry of overseas military forces in London. ' Tliis new department is the outcome of a desire on tho part of Canada, to maintain aa complete control as. possible of her own forces. Sir Edward . Kernn haa for some time past boon negotiating with the Imperial authorities, and has succeeded in establishing the principle that Canadian authorities should have complete control of all matters relating, to organisation and ad- ■ ministration of the Canadian overseas forces, witfii the exception of tho)ro wliich directly affect military operations. This seotion at General Headquarters will be a direct and complete channel whereby the Canadian viewpoint he presented in those matters which require reference to General Headquarters, and through it documents and communications relating +0 suoh matters will bp forwarded direct to the Canadian overseas Ministry ?n London, and vice versa, for consideration, instead of going through channels which in the past, have caused more or less delay. It is understood that tho head of. tlio new section will be Brigadwr-General ', F. L. Embury. C.M.G., of Vancouver, j General Embury commanded a brigade in France for n time with distinction.
