A French communique states :— Between the Ourcq and the Marne, our attacks were resumed this morning and continued successfully throughout the day. We held on the left Avmentieres andl Ghatelet Wood, beyond which we reached and occupied Brecq. The Franco-Americans m tlie centre advanced oyer three kilometres at certain points. • \ ' There was desperate fighting m the region of Epieds and Vrigny. The Germans recaptured Epieds on Tuesday evening, hut' ari* American counter-at-tack reconquered it. . We advanced our line north of both villages beyond Courpoil. We are advancing on our right m the forest of Fere, north of Charteves and Jaulgonne. .Further east we engaged abridge-' head at Treloup and captured the south part of the Forest of Ris. _ ', We captured m this sector five 5-inch guns and much material. There is intermittent artillery activity. between the Mamo and Rheims. j ' In Tuesday's 'fighting, m which wo: captured Rheims Wood, south of Cournias, we took several hundred prisoners^ Tlie total number of prisoners taken m the region of Mailly, Raineval, and Aubvillers,; north* of ' Montdidier, on Tuesday, is 1850, including 52 officers, of whom four aye colonels.
