The Philadelphia Public Ledger (referring to Irish conscription) says that the American people "must have the courage and clarity of vision to assure Mr. Lloyd George, his Cabinet, and Parliament that it stands squarely behind him and them m the conviction that there is 110 conceivable adequate excuse for any people who profess to love liberty to stand aside m indifference. It is nothing but the plain truth that we Americans will never understand the , induct of any nation which withholds its hand from this struggle simply be.Cause its demand for lesser local government of its own people by its own people is delayed." i
