DRASTIC ORDER HITS THOUSANDS
OF REGISTRANTS. SAN FJ^ANUSCO, May 27. The amendment to the selective service regulations announced by Pxovost Mar-shal-General Crowder affects the following men of draft ages : — Gamblers, bucket-shop and race track attendants, -fortune tellers, etc., who are classed as idlera.
Waiters, bar-tenders, elevator operators, doormen, footmen and attendants of clubs, hotels, apartment houses and office buildings. Ushers and other attendants employed m connection with games, sports, and amusements, except actual performers on the stage. Persons m domestic service. Clerks m. stores and mercantile establishments.
Baseball, golf and tennis players also may be included.
Slackers who leave the country to escape service will be prosecuted upon their return, even though the war is then over.
