AVOIDANCE OF WASTE.
With the American Army m Franco, May 16. — The unity of command, supported by General Pershing's expressed resolve to .co-operate with our Allies to "the fullest extent during this critical juncture, has taken another step on the road 1 toward complete inter-Allied efficiency.
Largely as a. result of measures taken at, a recent conference of the French, British, and American, military leaders nl Abbeville, a decision has been reached to pool all the Allies' resources m food and munition supplies for the combatant forces. HiUiertb each army on the Western front has been rationed and munitioned, entirely from its own depots. The supplies kept* in British storehouses went only to the British Army, and the French and Americans pursued the aame policy. Tt lias been found that the bad congestion of the -railroads cou/ld be considerably reduced and greater 00-ordSna-tion attained m all respects if the food stocks and ammunition were pooled and drawn upon by all three armies according to their needs. Obviously by this process one train can carry supplies to both the 'French and British or Hhe French and American troops where m tire nast two trainer would .have been required. In the same way one -gasoline reservoir will suffice for the Allied motor vehicles m a given area where previously two or three were necessary.
