James Knowles, ftged 36 years, Avho rcceiitly returned to New Zealand after two years' active sen'ico, was found dead at McLean's boarding housqi to-day. Death ( is supposed to bo due to heart disease. A mysterious affair avus disclosed last night, when tho bodv of Thomas Miller Steott, of Bulls, was found in a bedroom at the Criterion Hotel. Scptt^had evidently entered tho" room unknown to the proprietor on Friday night and locked himself in. Tlie rriom -Avas- 'entered by a window last night, and, the body, undressed, -was found lying across the bed.
