M EATLESS DAYS * ABOLISHED . (Australian and NZ. Cable Association:) LONDON, May 1 16. The Press Bureau reports that Lord Rhondda abolishes meatless days m eating places as from May. A letter received by the last mail' gives interesting particulars of the food restrictions m the North of England. The letters say: "We are now rationed for tea, butter, sugar, margarine, and bacon. Tea is loz. a head per week, sugar half a pound a head per week, a quarter of a pound' of either butter or margarine a head (nearly always margarine). At present we nave been getting a quaater of a pound per week, no matter the number m the family. Meat is now rationed, and we can only get Is worth of it per head per week. For a child it is 6d a week. You get your meat as above, and then it has to do all the week."
