The United States Food Controller has issued an order to breweries to cease the purchase of barley and other grains for malting purposes m order to ensure a greater supply of cereals and wheat substitutes. The Commandant of the Trentham Camp (Colonel H. R. Potter, C.M.G.) has issued an. order, expressing his commendation of the prompt and energetic action of. a, paut-y of sappers from the New Zealand Engineers Reinforcements, m saving and recovering from" the flood waters of the Hutt river on Sunday, April 7th, 1918, stores, etc., working m cold water up to their wan'sts for the greater part of the afternoon. The efforts of No. 52022 Sapper A. J. Johnston and No. 56126 Sapper L. F. Row are specially commended.
