Captain Frank Turnbull, of Wanganui, has been promoted to major. He left with the Main Body as a lieutenant, and was wounded at Gallipoli, where he won the Military Cross Major N. W. B. B. Thorns, M.C/, New Zealand Infantry, formerly m charge of the Nelson Defence Office, was awarded 1 the D.S.O. for "conspicuous gallantry ahd devotion to duty m frequently' moving forward under exceptionally heavy shell-fire, personally reconnoitring; the line and bringing back I most valuable reports. He displayed [exceptional courage and keenness throughout."
