Sir Douglas Haig reports : — The enemy attempted a raid last night east of Loos, and met with rifle and machine gun fire, and failed to reach oqr wtfe. Two raiding parties attacked, our jin.e northward of La Basse© canal. One was repulsed before reaching uir trenches, and thie other entered our trenches, but wa« driven out, and W took a few prsioners. During the night there were patrol encounters eastward of Polekappelle. Our artillery is active.
