The Council of Education, which has been sitting m Wellington, adopted the .j report of a Recess Committee Avhich I Avas set up at the laist meeting of the > Council to consider tho subject of scientific research and industry. The report recommended that there should be a national advisory council on research, consisting of four scientific men, one of Avhom should be a scientific expert at- - tached to a Government Department, and three members connected Avith tho leading industries of the Dominion, one of Avlvom should be present.
