THE HAGUE:, May 1. Hen* Achilla has resigned tlie presidency of the Norddeurtscher Lloyd, disagreeing with the other directors regarding Government compensation for ships confiscated m America. Tlie Government offered a total of fifteen millions sterling, of which five millions was allotted to the Norddeutscher Lloyd. Herr Achilis demanded ten millions. It is believed that the company will now join the Hamburg- America line under Herr Ballin, with a view to the completion of a huge Austro-German shipping trust. Herr Achilis opposes the amalgamation, which the Kaiser is instigating.
