. LONDON, April 30. Mr. Pirrie Robinson (the Times correspondent) bells how the Newfoundlanders, in the battle of Arras, added new lustre to their reputation by pushing the furthest advance in a difficult section. They had to fall back from an overwhelming counter-attack, holding the German masses till the British fire checked the advance. Then camo the Newfoundlanders' opportunity, and the neKt half-hour saw such a slaughter of Germans as has only been witnessed once or twice in the battle. It is believed that no enemy escaped, and between 1200 and 1500 are piled round the German trench.
