HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MESSAGES.

The High. Commissioner reports : LONDON, April 27, 1.25 a.m. Tlie Admiralty reports : Las.t night several enemy destroyers opened fire towards Ramsgate. The fire was immediately returned and the enemy were driven off after they had fired a large number of rounds.

LONDON, April 27, 1.45 p.m. In the Ramsgate raid two persons were killed and three injured. Twentyone houses and two stables were damaged. A horse was killed. The projectiles mostly fell m open country. LONDON. April 27, 3.25 p.m. French official,': Since April 16fth, between Soissons and Alberires, we captured 130 guns.

The High :Commissioner reports : — LONDON, April 27, 3.20 p.m. Mesopotamia official : On Wednesday night the Thirteenth Turkish Army Corps retreated hastily on both bank's of the Shatt-el-Adhaim towards GebelHamilin: hills, from which it had issued a few days previously. The Turks are now entrenching after their second attempt to interfere with General Maude's operations against the Eighteenth Turkish Army Corps. LONDON, April 27, 3.20 p.m. - Sir Douglas Haig reports : An unsuccessful enemy minoi* attack was made during the night m the neighborhood of Fayet, north-west of St. Quentin. Tlie attack was driven off with loss,' after sharp fighting, leaving prisoners.' We captured quarries on the eastern outskirts of Hargiconrt. The enemy fled, hurriedly abandoning rifles and equipment.

Tliere were successful local operations on the Arras-Cambrai road.

A spur between Roeux and, Gavrelle and important enemy positions have been captured.
