APPEAR.

Readers will no doubt .recall with * pleasure the performances given m His ' Majesty's Theatre ;>. few weeks ago by . tho Gisborne Follies fpr the purpose of ' raising funds for the Returned Soldiers' 4 Association. As a result of the two performances, and after paying all inciden- * tall expenses, the association received * the sum of £124. Since then further < talent has been added to the Follies, < and ifc now stands as the strongest conibination possible under local conditions. Future performances will be of a unique j< character, and something entirely differ- S' ont to that, hitherto attempted by local ; , amateurs. The company has been for- ' < lunate m securing t.he co-operation and ' assistance s of Mr." M. L. At a meeting of the members of the ( Gisborne Follies, at was decided to i'eorganise on a larger scale, amd the following officers have been duly elected: President, Mr. W. F. Feilding. | As it is anticipated that the -.Gisborne Operatic Society is not l'o-formintj this year, the production . of the Follies is oarticularly timely, and will provide during the winter' months that entertainment which has. 1 previously ■ been t>tovfided by the- Operatic Society. Tho Follies will give at least four two-night nerformances at intervals of six weeks, f .he first of such performances being foed for May 30th next. The" proceeds of all performances will be devoted sole- 1 ly to patriotic, purposes, a substantial nortion being allotted to wounded sol- ' dt'ers' immediate relief fund.
